Make an offer or bid in a public auction. Auction winners are selected at the deadline.
How offers and auctions work
Read auction rules and buyer / seller expectations →
Open bids are offers for seller approval. Timed auctions end at the displayed deadline: the highest bid wins if the reserve is met. Sellers and bidders agree to honour that result. Bids in the final two minutes extend the deadline to two minutes after the bid. The first bid starts at the seller’s minimum. Each new bid must be at least £50 above the highest bid, in £50 steps, and meet the current seller minimum. Payment and transfer are agreed directly.
Make an offer: buyers can optionally allow direct acceptance or a seven-day no-reserve auction within five days. New offer amounts appear anonymously; the chosen username appears during a live auction. The offer becomes its opening bid and remains active until the auction ends, including late-bid extensions. If neither direct acceptance nor an auction launch happens in time, the offer expires. Existing ordinary offers cannot be converted.
Amounts, dates and statuses are public. Seller usernames are public on auction listings. The same username is used for buying and selling. Buyer usernames appear during live auctions; outside live auctions, offers and bids are labelled Anonymous buyer. DAB-owned listings show DAB as seller. Your email stays private until acceptance, when buyer and seller contact details are shared with each other.
